March 4th Discovery Series Will Focus on Men's Health

Farmington, Conn. - During a special Discovery Series program dedicated to men’s health, experts from the University of Connecticut Health Center will discuss new developments in the detection, prevention and treatment of prostate, colon and rectal cancers on Thursday, March 4. The snow date is Tuesday, March 30.

As always, the Discovery Series is free and will begin at 7 p.m. in the Health Center’s Keller Auditorium (use main hospital entrance.) Registration is required. Please call the Health Center at 800-535-6232 or 860-679-7692.

Carolyn D. Runowicz, M.D., director of the UConn Comprehensive Cancer Center, will serve as moderator of the program and will speak about today’s most exciting advances in cancer care and research.

Presentations will be made by: Peter Albertsen, M.D., a surgeon and widely recognized expert in prostate cancer care; Wayne Frederick, M.D., a surgical oncologist with expertise in colorectal cancer; and Joel Levine, M.D., a GI specialist who is pursuing new approaches to identify patients who are at-risk for colon cancer.
