Discovery Series with a Twist: "Late Show" Examines Emergency Medicine

Thursday, April 14

FARMINGTON, CONN. – When it comes to comedy, there seems to be no topic that’s immune. The Discovery Series is presenting an informative, yet lighthearted, look at emergency medicine, and when and why it's time to go to the emergency department.

Hosting “The Late Show with the Emergency Department” will be William Horgan, M.D., emergency room physician at UConn Health Center. His Health Center guests include, Soni Clubb, M.D., regularly featured at the emergency room; Peter “Pete” Schulman, M.D., appearing daily at the Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center; and no bones about it, Augustus “Gus” Mazzocca, M.D., orthopedist extraordinaire. Live music has been prescribed to add to the late night ambience, and refreshments will be dispensed.

Dr. Horgan promises to administer some probing questions related to real and faux symptoms of heart attack and stroke, and how to avoid injuries due to falls and thereby skipping a visit to the emergency room. You will discover when to call 911.

Join the live audience Thursday, April 14, at 7 p.m. in the almost-famous Keller Auditorium at the UConn Health Center. As always, register for a free seat by calling 800-535-6232, or locally at 860-679-7692.
