Dr. Eric Silverstein Joins the Musculoskeletal Institute at UConn Health Center

Orthopaedic Surgeon with Expertise in Bone Oncology

FARMINGTON, CONN. – Eric Silverstein, M.D., an orthopaedic surgeon with specialized training in bone oncology, is now seeing patients at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Dr. Silverstein offers expert care for men, women and children with conditions such as benign tumors of the bone, cancers that spread to the bone, primary bone cancer and benign and malignant soft tissue tumors.

“Most bone tumors are benign and can be treated very successfully. Cancers of the bone, however, are rare and require highly specialized care,” said Dr. Silverstein, who is one of only a handful of musculoskeletal oncologists in Connecticut.

Dr. Silverstein is a graduate of Albert Einstein School of Medicine in New York and completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the UConn School of Medicine. In addition, he completed an elite fellowship in musculoskeletal oncology at the University of Florida Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation and Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.

At the UConn Health Center, Dr. Silverstein is now part of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the new Musculoskeletal Institute – a comprehensive, multi-service program offering world class care for problems affecting bones, joints and connective tissue. All services, from surgery to physical therapy, are offered in the modern, new Medical Arts and Research Building on the Farmington campus.

“The Musculoskeletal Institute offers a wide range of services to help men and women gain mobility and maintain overall health, including orthopaedic surgery and care for spinal diseases, osteoporosis, rheumatologic conditions and more. Many of our programs are led by nationally and internationally recognized experts in their fields,” added Jay R. Lieberman, M.D., the new director of the Musculoskeletal Institute and chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
