Dr. Elizabeth P. Simmons Joins UConn Health Center

Ophthalmologist and Medical Retinal Specialist

FARMINGTON, CONN. – Elizabeth Plotkin Simmons, M.D., an ophthalmologist and medical retinal specialist, is now seeing patients at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington and the UConn Health Partners office in West Hartford. She joins Jeanine Suchecki, M.D., chief of the Division of Ophthalmology, as well as William Ehlers, M.D., Jehangir Durrani, M.D. and Malcolm Roth, M.D.

Dr. Simmons has expertise in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease. She joins the Health Center from the Joslin Diabetes Center of Harvard Medical School where she completed a medical retina fellowship.

“The treatment of retinal disease is an area of rapid change and advancement, and with the arrival of Dr. Simmons, we are now able to offer patients state-of-the-art medical retinal care that is both convenient and comprehensive,” said Dr. Suchecki.

Dr. Simmons is a graduate of Brown University and earned her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She completed an internship in medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia and a residency in ophthalmology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Prior to her fellowship, Dr. Simmons worked in private practice in Attleboro, Massachusetts.
