Nutrition Classes Offered at Health Center

FARMINGTON, CONN. – Less is More! Planning for Good Health: This class offers vital information for those looking to eat healthier and drop some extra pounds. Registered dietitian Linda York with the UConn Health Center will give you the facts about fad diets, offer healthful tips when eating out, and help you develop your own weight loss strategies. The class is ideal for people who have pre-diabetes, cardiac problems or are just trying to control their weight. It is offered on Monday, Oct. 1, Nov. 5 and Dec. 3, from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Let’s Go Shopping: Come join us on a virtual grocery store tour. UConn Health Center registered dietitian Linda York will show you how to read food labels and navigate the store aisles while choosing nutritious foods for you and your family. The class will be held on Monday, Nov. 12, from 4 to 5 p.m.

Handling the Holidays: Most people gain up to 10 pounds during the holidays. Registered dietitian Linda York with the UConn Health Center will explain the basics of a healthy diet, review strategies for getting through holiday events and how to do recipe makeovers using your favorite holiday foods. Bring your favorite holiday appetizer, dessert or menu item to class. The class will be held on Monday, Nov. 19, from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

The fee for each class is $20 and they are held at the Dowling South Building, 2nd Floor, Suite 200C, at the UConn Health Center, 263 Farmington Ave., Farmington. Register by calling 800-535-6232 or 860-679-7692.
