Director of Award-Winning Documentary "Including Samuel" will be Keynote Speaker for a Forum on Early Childhood Inclusion

Forum to be Held in Farmington on October 2

FARMINGTON, CONN. – Award-winning documentary filmmaker, Dan Habib, will be the keynote speaker for a forum on early childhood inclusion on Friday, October 2 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Hartford Marriott in Farmington at 15 Farm Springs Road.

Before his son Samuel was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, photojournalist Dan Habib rarely thought about the inclusion of people with disabilities. Now he thinks about inclusion every day. Shot and produced over four years, Habib’s award-winning documentary film, Including Samuel, chronicles the Habib family’s efforts to include Samuel in every facet of their lives.  The film honestly portrays his family’s hopes and struggles as well as the experiences of four other individuals with disabilities and their families. Including Samuel is a highly personal, passionately photographed film that captures the cultural and systemic barriers to inclusion.

The forum is sponsored by The Partnership for Inclusive Practices which includes the Early Childhood Education Cabinet, DDS Birth to Three System and SDE Bureau of Special Education, Early Childhood Special Education Program and the University of Connecticut A.J. Pappanikou Center for Excellence in Disabilities.
