East Granby’s Caryl Ryan Wins Employee Appreciation Award

FARMINGTON, CONN. – Caryl Ryan, a nursing manager at the University of Connecticut Health Center, is the recipient of the 2010 Dr. Peter J. Deckers Employee Appreciation Award.

Ryan, of East Granby, was recognized for her commitment, passion and leadership as nursing manager of the John Dempsey Hospital medical telemetry units and as co-chair of the UConn Health Center’s Medication Safety Committee.

"To be recognized with this award is truly an honor, but it is also reflective of the support I have received from senior leadership, my staff and the many individuals and practitioners throughout the hospital, who have worked hard to enhance the quality of care provided to our patients in the safest environment possible," Ryan says. "I am very proud to work in an organization with such dedicated and hard-working individuals."

Ryan spent most of her 25-year career at the Health Center in the adult intensive care unit, including a five-year stint as assistant nurse manager of the ICU and cardiac step down unit, before moving to her current role three and a half years ago.
