Avon Resident to Present Lecture at European Conference

FARMINGTON, CONN. – Dr. Douglas Peterson of Avon has been invited to present a lecture at the 10th biannual meeting of the European Association of Oral Medicine in London, England on September 23.

Peterson is a professor of oral medicine at the UConn School of Dental Medicine and co-chair of the Head and Neck Cancer and Oral Oncology Program at the Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Peterson’s lecture will address the topic of mucosal injury caused by cancer therapies. Peterson was selected by his peers to speak at the meeting because of his leadership in the field of oral medicine.

The symposium is a joint venture between the American Academy of Oral Medicine, the European Association of Oral Medicine and the British Society for Oral Medicine. It is the largest oral medicine meeting ever held, with an anticipated attendance of approximately 1,600 participants from around the world.
