About the Artists:
Jenni Freidman says her work is inspired by what she finds in nature. She has exhibited at galleries, museums, art centers, and invitational exhibitions in the United States and Europe. Her works are in private and public collections, including Paper New England in Hartford, where she is on the Board of Directors, Amity Art Foundation in Woodbridge, University of Nebraska’s Sheldon Art Gallery and its Omaha Library, and Hallmark Collection, Kansas City, Missouri.

The Hartford native and West Hartford resident, Freidman earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the University of Hartford’s art school in West Hartford, where she is currently an adjunct professor, and a master’s in fine arts from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Freidman attended workshops in woodcutting in the U.S. and in Florence, Italy, and is the recipient of scholarships, fellowships and grants.

Jan Blencowe considers visual art her first language. The Clinton resident says she has been drawing and painting for as long as she has been talking. Her formal training began in high school, painting in the abstract expressionist style. The fine art program at Caldwell College in New Jersey followed where she received a bachelor’s degree with concentrations in painting, color and art history.

Blencowe's work is collected worldwide with pieces in private collections in Australia, Canada, Finland, Portugal, Germany, the United Kingdom and across the United States. Her work hangs in the American Embassy in Honduras and has been purchased by 20th Century Fox. She has exhibited in numerous juried shows and is the winner of many awards and prizes.

The University of Connecticut Health Center’s collection of fine arts serves to enhance the environment and promote the sense of a caring community for patients, visitors, staff and students. Art is selected, acquired and exhibited by the UCHC Art Advisory Committee. To view a selection of the Health Center’s permanent collection visit: http://auxiliary.uchc.edu/art.
