Orthopaedic Surgeon Specializes in Bone, Soft Tissue Tumors

FARMINGTON, CONN. – Dr. Tessa Balach is now seeing patients at the University of Connecticut Health Center’s Department of Orthopaedics in the New England Musculoskeletal Institute.

Balach is among a small group of orthopaedic surgeons in the U.S. with specialized training in the management of musculoskeletal tumors, both adult and pediatric. This includes benign and malignant tumors of the bone and soft tissue, primary bone cancer, cancer that spreads to the bone, and surgical care of pelvic, upper- and lower-extremity tumors using limb-salvaging techniques. Balach also has expertise in the treatment of patients with arthritis of the hip and knee.

Balach, of Bloomfield, is fellowship trained in orthopaedic oncology from the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she also completed her orthopaedic surgery residency. Her medical degree is from New York Medical College.
