Orthopaedic Surgeon Joins UConn’s Sports Medicine Team
FARMINGTON, CONN. – Dr. Cory Edgar has joined the UConn Health Center as part of its sports medicine team. He is seeing patients at the New England Musculoskeletal Institute in Farmington. Starting in December he will also see patients at the UConn Health Center’s new medical office in Storrs.
Edgar treats orthopaedic sports injuries, including complex shoulder and knee injuries, and has a research interest in the anterior cruciate ligament, meniscus, and soft tissue healing.
He joins UConn from the Boston University, where he was a head team physician and an attending surgeon in the Division of Sports Medicine. Edgar is a graduate of the UConn Health Center’s orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship and residency trained in orthopaedic surgery and general surgery at the Boston University Medical Center, where he also earned his medical degree and Ph.D. in biochemistry. His research focus is in using stem cells to enhance the healing of sports medicine related injuries.
Edgar is a resident of West Hartford.
