Medical Students Join Gold Humanism Honor Society
By Chris DeFrancesco
Eleven fourth-year medical students were inducted into the UConn School of Medicine’s chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society October 21.
Eleven fourth-year students have been inducted into the UConn School of Medicine’s chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, which honors senior medical students, residents and physician teachers by recognizing their excellence in clinical care, leadership, compassion and dedication to serve.
“I feel incredibly honored to have been chosen by my peers for the humanistic qualities they have come to see in me over these past few years,” says inductee Lu Lu. “UConn has always focused on both the art and science of medicine throughout our four years of training, thus I believe that all of my classmates and I will develop into caring, compassionate physicians in our own unique ways.”
The inductees were nominated by their classmates.
“I am deeply honored,” says inductee Lindsay Brown. “In a time when the medical environment is rife with political and economic distractions, it is evermore crucial to focus on and to celebrate the humanistic elements of medicine that initially attracted us to this profession.”
