UConn basketball coach Jim Calhoun returned to the bike trail for a fourth year to raise money for the Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center and Coaches vs. Cancer.
The NBC Connecticut Jim Calhoun Cancer Challenge Ride and Walk featured 495 participants on bicycles and another 481 walkers June 12 in Simsbury. Checks are still coming in; an updated tally of the donations is available at www.calhounride.com.
The bike rides were 10, 25, 50 and 75 miles, and the walk was 5 kilometers. The walk and 75-mile ride were new this year. Calhoun completed a problem-free 25-mile ride.
