Laurencin Will Be Missed

It was with a great deal of sadness that I read the front page article “Laurencin leaving UVa for UConn.” (Daily Progress, May 10.) The Laurencin family will be a loss to the Charlottesville community.
I had the pleasure of sitting with them at the NAACP banquet last fall. Health is a family affair and they participated in Quality Community Council walks and Dr. Laurencin has been a walk leader.
Dr. Laurencin made a commitment for his department to provide the free sports for the annual Westhaven Community Day.
Mrs. Laurencin has provided the leadership to establish a Charlottesville chapter of Jack and Jill.
Thank you for the contributions you have made to the Charlottesville community. Your grace and presence will be missed.
