Weight Lifting May Benefit Breast Cancer Survivors More Than Previously Thought

Dr. Carolyn D. Runowicz, director of the Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center, comments on a study published in the August 13 New England Journal of Medicine that suggests breast cancer survivors can reap the benefits of slowly progressive weight lifting with less of a risk to exacerbating lymphedema (fluid buildup that causes swelling, commonly associated lymph node removal) than previously thought.
