Doctor Warns of Deaths Around Holidays
(Farmington, CT) -- A report indicates that the days following Christmas are especially dangerous to those vulnerable to cardiac problems. The report says emergency rooms are quiet on Christmas, but afterwards people flood in for treatment, and in many cases it's too late. Dr. Joyce Meng is a cardiologist at the UConn Health Center in Farmington says people may put off treatment around holidays because of family and other obligations.
Meng says most people try to wait as long as possible during the holidays to go to the hospital for treatment, and with heart problems the consequences can be disastrous. She is urging people to always put their health first, and go get treatment if they have concerns about their health, even if it is a holiday.
