Learn How to Participate in Your Health Care

May 13th Discovery Series Provides Helpful Tips and Resources

FARMINGTON, CONN. - Learn how to be an active member of your health care team at the next Discovery Series program at UConn Health Center, 7 p.m. on May 13.

Surgeon and patient advocate Kristen Zarfos, M.D.; Rhea Sanford, R.N., Ph.D., patient education specialist; and Librarian Robert Joven, M.L.S.; will provide tips on ways to work with your physician and other providers to maximize your health care.

“Everyone benefits when patients know the right questions to ask their physicians and other professionals involved in their care,” says Dr. Zarfos. “It’s also helpful to be aware of the many valuable resources available on the Internet and in public libraries that can assist patients trying to understand and learn more about particular medical conditions.”

The program is free and open to the public. It will be held in Keller Auditorium. (Use the main Health Center entrance.) To register, call UConnLink at 800-535-6232 or 860-679-7692 or email ccda@up.uchc.edu.
