Celebrate Aging Programs: January 2005

Farmington, Conn. – Celebrate Aging, a new initiative of the UConn Health Center designed to promote successful aging, is offering several educational programs in January.

Budget Workshop: Sonia Barkman of Primerica, will lead a workshop on debt reduction, on Tuesday, January 18, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., in the Health Center’s Onyiuke Dining Room.

Hypertension and You: George Mansoor, M.D., a hypertension expert with the Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center, will review new information on the diagnosis and treatment of high blood pressure. Dr. Mansoor’s talk will be held on Thursday, January 20, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., in Health Center’s Onyiuke Dining Room.

Death and Dying: Karen Bleser, M.D., and Maria Renna, M.D., of the UConn Center on Aging, will address the sensitive topic of death and dying. In particular, they will focus on how to reach out to friends and family members who are terminally ill. The discussion will take place on Monday, January 31, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., in the Farmington Senior Center on 321 New Britain Avenue in Farmington.
