UConn Health Center Library Has New Director

FARMINGTON, CONN. – Evelyn Breck Morgen was recently appointed director of the Lyman Maynard Stowe Library at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Prior to her appointment, Morgen served as the library’s associate director during which time she helped develop and implement programs for handheld computers for faculty and students and helped plan the first major library renovation in 30 years.

“Our library has just been beautifully renovated, and our students, faculty, and staff are delighted with this updated environment. It encourages life-long learning, collaborative study, and the use of new technologies,” said Morgen. “In addition to serving the clinical, research, and educational communities here at UConn Health Center, we are also an important source of health information for public libraries and the general public throughout the State.”

Before coming to the Health Center, Morgen served as the director of library services at Middlesex Hospital for 20 years, overseeing building renovations and transitions in healthcare and information technology affecting library science and services.

Morgen earned her master’s in library science at Simmons College in Boston and is recognized as a Distinguished Member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals.

“It’s a very challenging and exciting era to be a librarian, and our staff is poised to meet that challenge,” said Morgen, who resides in East Haddam.
