Match Day Holds the Future for Nation’s Medical School Graduates

FARMINGTON, Conn. – At exactly 12:05 p.m., Thursday, March 15, medical students nationwide will rip open envelopes that hold the key to their futures. It’s Match Day, a rite of passage for medical students.

Each year the National Residency Match Program matches thousands of medical school graduates to residency programs. At the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, 72 medical students from the Class of 2007 will learn where they will serve their residences and most likely build a lifelong career and home.

Each year Match Day proves to be a tense, emotional and thrilling event for the graduates, their families and UConn faculty.

Students will assemble at noon in the Massey Auditorium, adjacent to the Academic Entrance, UConn Health Center, 263 Farmington Avenue to learn what lies ahead.

Note to print and television reporters and photo/video editors:
Interview, photo and video opportunities are plentiful, high-spirited and emotional.

Media is invited to stay for lunch.
