UConn Health Center Adds 3 Primary Care Physicians
FARMINGTON, CONN. – Three primary care physicians have joined the University of Connecticut Health Center and are seeing patients in three locations.
Alejandro Murcia, M.D., comes to the UConn Health Center from Manchester Memorial Hospital, where he served as director of infectious diseases and epidemiology. He completed a fellowship in infectious diseases and microbiology at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center following his internship and residency training at the Hospital for Joint Diseases and Medical Center in New York City. His doctorate in medicine is from the National University of Colombia School of Medicine in Bogota. Murcia is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. He sees patients at the UConn Medical Group Simsbury office, 381 Hopmeadow St.

Michael F. Collins, M.D., most recently was in private practice in Manchester. He completed his internship and residency training at the Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven. He earned his doctorate in medicine at Tufts Medical School in Boston after graduating with honors from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. Collins is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He sees patients at UConn Health Partners, 99 Ash St., East Hartford.

Nisreen Khazaal, M.D., joins the UConn Health Center from William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich., where she completed her internship and internal medicine residency before joining the faculty. She earned her doctorate in medicine at the University of Damascus Medical School in Syria. Her clinical and research interests include asthma and obesity. Khazaal is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American College of Physicians. She sees patients in Farmington.
