New OB/GYN Seeing Patients at UConn Health Center
FARMINGTON, CONN. – Ramzi Alkass, M.D., has joined the obstetrics and gynecology practice at the University of Connecticut Health Center.
Alkass practices general OB/GYN and specializes in minimally invasive surgery. He is seeing patients at the UConn Health Center in Farmington and at the UConn Health Partners Clinic, 99 Ash St., East Hartford.
“The advantage of being an OB/GYN is, we’re primary care physicians, but also specialists,” Alkass says. “When it comes time for specialized care, we already know the patients, and they’re comfortable with us.”
Alkass completed a post-baccalaureate premedical program at Columbia University in New York City, and earned a master’s in medical science/physiology at New York Medical College in Valhalla, N.Y. After graduating from medical school at Saint George’s University in Grenada, West Indies, he completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at the UConn Health Center.
“Dr. Alkass was a resident here and it was a natural fit for him to stay with us,” says James Egan, M.D., chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. “Our patients will benefit from his care, and our residents and medical students will benefit from his expertise.”
In addition to his clinical duties, Alkass is an assistant professor of OB/GYN at the UConn School of Medicine. He lives in Wethersfield.
