UConn Health Center Orthopaedic Surgeon Assisting in Curt Schilling Surgery Today
FARMINGTON, CONN. – Augustus Mazzocca, M.D., an orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at the UConn Health Center’s New England Musculoskeletal Institute, is assisting today in the shoulder surgery of Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling.
Dr. Mazzocca was asked to assist because of his expertise in shoulder and bicep surgery. In addition, the surgery will involve a procedure that Dr. Mazzocca helped to develop, together with Robert Arciero, M.D., chief of the Division of Sports Medicine at the New England Musculoskeletal Institute.
An orthopaedic surgeon for the UConn Huskies and other elite athletes, Dr. Mazzocca also sees patients of all ages and abilities at the New England Musculoskeletal Institute’s offices in Farmington and Avon.
