About the Artists:
Former artist for Sports Illustrated magazine Donald Moss will be exhibiting his latest series of acrylic paintings, including “Resume # 1,” for which he recently won second prize at the New Britain Museum of American Art juried show.

Moss started his career painting for New York City advertising agencies and for three decades worked for Sports Illustrated. His paintings hang at the National Art Museum of Sport in Indianapolis, the New Britain Museum of American Art, the National Farmland Trust, the American Museum of Illustration in New York, and at the Pentagon, where 24 are on display.

Moss also created a dozen U.S. postage stamps, 50 postal “first day covers,” and graphics for Head and Olin ski companies. His work was commissioned by the U.S. Golf Association, the Professional Golfers Association of America, as well as major golf courses nationwide. Locally, Moss, who lives in Farmington, painted and produced fine art prints of the Farmington Country Club’s 17th hole.

He is a life member of the New York’s Society of Illustrators, and an illustration board member of the New Britain Museum of American Art. He is also a board member of the National Art Museum of Sport and the U.S. Sport Academy in Mobile, Alabama. Moss has traveled worldwide as Chairman of the United States Air Force Art Program.

Janice Hechter has participated in numerous juried exhibitions, including at the Artwell Gallery, Torrington, and the West Hartford Art League, winning awards at both events. She was also recognized for her work at a show held at the prestigious exhibit space at Automatic Data Processing (ADP) corporate headquarters in Roseland, N.J., and participated in Bowery Gallery National Juried shows in New York City.

She has exhibited at the Gaelen Gallery in Whippany, N.J., the Hunterdon Museum of Art in Clinton, N.J., and the Town Hall Award Recipient Exhibition in Livingston, N.J.

Hechter was selected to display her work at West Hartford Center’s Artwalk and has participated in various group exhibits in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York City galleries. She has appeared in the artist’s periodical “Art Life.”

Hechter, a resident of Unionville, earned her bachelor’s in fine art at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
