Landscapes at UConn Health Center
What: “Alaska” by Faripour Forouhar
Where: Main and mezzanine lobbies, UConn Health Center, 263 Farmington Ave., Farmington
When: November 20 through January 21, daily 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
About the artist:
Self-taught artist Faripour Forouhar has been painting with oils for
the past eight years but says, “As far back as I remember, I was a
natural when it came to drawing.” Originally a watercolorist and
graphite sketcher, he was attracted to the versatility and textural
qualities of oil paints.
A surgical pathology specialist at UConn Health Center, Forouhar brings a thoughtful approach to his artistic work, analyzing and experimenting with composition to create beautiful landscapes. However, Forouhar says that his primary approach to his art, and its subject, is instinctive.
Having traveled extensively, he paints the maritime and mountain landscapes he has seen. “The atmospheric quality of weather in the mountain and trees is my main draw to nature,” he says.
An Avon resident, Forouhar is an active member of the North Shore Art Association, where he has exhibited. He has also exhibited at the Arts Exclusive Gallery in Simsbury and previously at the UConn Health Center.
