About the Artist:
As a photographer Anita Garnett, works to capture the beauty, sensitivity and humanity of her subjects. Her images are unfettered by backgrounds and by isolating them and their form, she states, their singularity can be further observed.

Photo essays involving people are of special interest to Garnett. She has long worked on an ongoing traveling project called "Words of Wisdom" that involves asking elderly people to share their experiences.

She has exhibited in numerous juried shows, including at the William Benton Museum of Art in Storrs, the Gallery on the Green in Canton, a number of exhibitions sponsored by the West Hartford Art League as well as many other public and private venues throughout the state and in New York, Massachusetts and Florida. She has exhibited in solo shows throughout Connecticut and is the winner of many awards and prizes.

She was published in Artis Magazine and was a contributing photographer in the book The Art of the Birdhouse.

With a focus on portraits and fine art photography, Garnett works in her Winsted studio or in clients’ homes.
