Expert in the Field of Personalized Medicine to Speak at Commencement Exercises on May 17
FARMINGTON, CONN. – Keith Batchelder, D.M.D., M.D., M.S., an expert in the field of personalized medicine, will speak at the University of Connecticut Health Center’s commencement exercises Sunday, May 17, at 2 p.m. at the Connecticut Convention Center, 100 Columbus Boulevard, Hartford. The ceremony will recognize graduates from its School of Medicine, School of Dental Medicine, and Graduate School.
Batchelder, a graduate of UConn’s School of Dental Medicine, is the founder and CEO of Genomic Healthcare Strategies. GHS provides strategy and implementation services for companies looking to enter or grow in the new markets emerging as a result of predictive diagnostics and preventive medicine. Batchelder has long been interested in the intersection of the scientific, business and societal promises and challenges raised by personalized medicine. Acting on that belief, he is one of the first ten volunteers to have their full duplex genomes sequenced and published in Harvard Genetics Professor George Church’s Personal Genome Project.
Medical degrees will be awarded to 75 graduates and dental medicine degrees to 40 graduates. Degrees will also be conferred to graduates of master’s programs in public health, dental science, clinical and translational research and biomedical science.
