About the Artists:
Retired from the practice of law, Connecticut native
Alan Budney devotes his
energy and passion to the art and craft of photography. Originally a
classic fine art black-and-white photographer, his techniques and
subjects have evolved along with the advent of digital photography.
He exhibits in numerous galleries and venues on Cape Cod, is a
member of the Professional Photographer’s Association of Cape Cod
and a juried photographer of the Cape Cod Art Association.
A self-taught photographer from Granby, Gary Melnysyn's travels have taken him to Alaska, across the Canadian tundra, through Montana and Wyoming wilderness, to the Sea of Cortez, through the Great Divide and to the deep woods of Maine. His passion for photography, combined with his wildlife background as a master naturalist, master wildlife conservationist and National Park Ranger, results in stunning wildlife images. His photos can be seen in such magazines as National Geographic, Nature Photographers, Favorites Places, and Nature Photography as well as on the Connecticut Audubon Web Gallery.
A collector of old patent medicine bottles, Lou Palmieri’s still-life photos are a unique blend of photography and express his interest in the subject and its history. Photos in this exhibit are accompanied by historical information. Palmieri is a member of the New Haven Camera Club, where he has won numerous awards, including six Ruth Sprague Travel awards for the best travel slide sequence put to music.
On a cold winter day Sharon Purcell took a photo of a pattern left in the snow by a car. The color froze and the photo was given a bronze look. She sent it to Popular Photography and was awarded the grand prize by Nikon. Her photography has appeared in the book Memories of Yesteryear (published by the International Library of Photography), American Photo, Cycle World and Connecticut Magazine; as well as in local papers.
