Lefrançois Named Immunology Chair

FARMINGTON, CONN. – Leo Lefrançois, professor of immunology at the University of Connecticut Health Center, has been promoted to chairman of the Department of Immunology.

Lefrançois, of West Hartford, is also the director of the UConn Health Center’s Center for Integrated Immunology and Vaccine Research and the Health Center’s Flow Cytometry Facility. He joined the UConn Health Center in 1991 and leads a research team focused on understanding the immune response against microbial infections.

Lefrançois completed his graduate training at Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, N.C., and postdoctoral training at Scripps Clinic, La Jolla, Calif. He is widely published in scholarly journals and recently was elected as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
