Medical School Graduate Returns to Direct General Surgery Division
FARMINGTON, CONN. – Dr. Brian Shames, a University of Connecticut School of Medicine graduate, has returned to the UConn Health Center as director of the Division of General Surgery. Shames brings a strong background in transplant surgery as well as complex hepatobiliary procedures and abdominal surgery. He was a transplant research fellow, then a clinical transplant fellow, at the University of Wisconsin. His residency training, in general surgery, was at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, where he also was a National Institutes of Health research fellow.
Shames is a resident of Avon.
